Networks with the European Research Area

One of the principal aims of the EU Sixth Framework Programme is to increase coordination of the European Research Area ERA. The EU wishes to enhance collaboration among national and regional research finance agencies, and is funding this by investing in ERA Nets. The long term aim is to create national research funds for international applications. This benefits the quality of research and also results in a concentration of research efforts. At present, there are around fifty ERA Nets. Sweden is participating in around half of these, and Formas in nine: Biodiversa, BONUS, CIRCLE, CORE Organic, ERA-BUILD/ERACOBUILD, MariFish, PV-ERA-NET, Urban net and Wood Wisdom.
