Basic and needs-driven research with focus on e.g.:

• Transformation of urban and rural areas towards increased resource efficiency and improved quality of life
• Interrelations between urban and rural areas, global trends and business dependency
• Democratic and efficient processes for planning, management and change
• Good environments for housing, services, work and leisure
• Socio-technical and ecological systems – infrastructures, transport and flows
