6. Food and animal welfare
Basic and needs-driven research with focus on e.g.:
- Food safety and risks in production and consumption
- High quality food for a healthy diet
- Methods for measurement and guarantee of animal welfare
- Genetic and environmental factors influencing animal welfare
- Spread of infections and diseases between animals, and between animals and humans
- Methods for diagnosis and treatment of animal diseases, including production animals and animals kept for company and sports
- Breeding strategies, including the possibilities and risks of gene techniques
