5. Environmental pollution
Basic and needs-driven research with focus on e.g.:
- Source identification and transport of pollutants from the technosphere to humans and the environment
- Mobility, distribution, and fate of pollutants in the environment
- Methods for identification and quantification of pollutants
- Effects of pollutants in the environment and on human and animal health, including combination effects (“cocktail effects”)
- Technical and institutional impediments to, and opportunities for reduction of pollutant emissions
