Support provided by Formas for the planning of EU projects

Formas is inviting researchers to apply for a grant for the planning of projects within the 7th EU Framework Programme for Research (7 RP), especially those with the thematic focus corresponding to the research strategy and general focus of Formas. The applicant must hold a doctorate and have the intention of being a coordinator, or be a member of a leading group for the development of an EU 7 RP project. For an EU project with a budget of at least 4 million Euro the ceiling for planning support is KSEK 150; the maximum amount can be allocated only to coordinators. For an EU project with a budget less than 4 million Euro, the maximum planning support is KSEK 100; in this case also the maximum amount is allocated only to coordinators.
In both cases, the grants may relate to e.g. journeys, the compilation of the application and arrangement of workshops, as well as associated salary costs.
The following particulars must be included in the application:
- the name of the EU call and the topic to which the planning refers
- the role of the applicant in the project
- the name of the person(s) with whom the applicant intends to cooperate, and the name of the department concerned
- time schedule for the preparatory work
- outline costing for the work involved in the planning
- other potential sources of finance
The application will be assessed according to the following criteria:
- The project/proposed programme is directly associated with a project in the 7RP and is within Formas' spheres of responsibility
- The applicant must have the competence to carry out the project/programme and it must be probable that the applicant's role as coordinator/leading player can be accepted by other partners in the European project consortium
- Finance to be provided by the applicant must be clearly stated
- That this input must be capable of being assessed against the background of previous and, if relevant, any still ongoing research inputs in this area
Information should therefore be provided concerning the composition of the project and the role of the grant recipient in the consortium, and also concerning continued finance for the project.
