ERA-NET Sumforest: Sustainable forests for the society of the future

ERA-NET Sumforest has opened a call for international collaboration projects. The call is jointly launched by 20 participating countries, with the aim to support research to inform policy decisions regarding multifunctional forestry. The total budget of the call is 9 million Euro (about 88 million SEK). The Swedish Research Council Formas participates in the call with a budget of 1.5 million Euro over three years.
Main topics of the call
- Topic 1: Comparative assessment of the sustainability performance of forest-based, other renewable and non-renewable raw material-based value chains to inform policy decisions
- Topic 2: Risk resilient forest management - Adapting forest management regimes which incorporate risk assessment related to potential climate change impacts to inform policy decisions
- Topic 3: Investigation, appraisal and evaluation of trade-offs related to the provision of forest ecosystem services to inform policy decisions

Submission of proposals will follow a one-step procedure, and the call will close on 17 June 2016 (15:00 CET). Applications are submitted via the electronic submission portal provided by the German call secretariat. Swedish PIs in projects recommended for funding will then be invited to submit the same application to Formas.
Projects are expected to start in the beginning of 2017.
